Dark Towers Fans

I just started reading that this weekend and I about flipped when “everything follows the beam” was spoken. I love the tie ins he does in his books!!

Dark Tower as an animation or anything would be bad I think. I am always disappointed in adaptations… nothing can compair to a book. Although I am going to eat my own words and say that “Shawshank Redemption” was equal in enjoyment to the story, as was “Stand by me”… the Green Mile pulls a fair third. “The Stand” as a miniseries I didnt care for, but definatly his best book. That and the Dark Tower series are my favorites… but since the tower isn’t finished The Stand stands.

Enright3: Because Wizard In Glass is probably the best book King has ever written. Most of the book is about Roland’s past.

JosephFinn: From my interpertation, The Talisman is completely outside the realm of all of King’s other books. I say that partly because it was co-authored with Peter Straub. The book just seems like masturbation to me: He wrote a mini version of the Dark Tower series, one that he could finish.

The Dark Tower Series just keeps getting better and better. I thought the first one was a good framework, and liked the way the second and third novels fleshed out the story.

However, the fourth (Wizard and Glass) stands as one of the best things King has written. Tremendous characterization. I lived the story of Roland and Cuthbert and Susan, and was overcome by emotion at the betrayal that forms the climax of the story of Roland’s past.

I, too, pray fervently that nothing bad happens to King while the quest for the Dark Tower is still ongoing. This is a magical tale.

I guess I would see any movie made from this series, but honestly folks, how could you begin to capture the depth and breadth of this adventure on the screen? Not unless you had a 24-part miniseries; and who could afford to do that?

[pride] I have all (but one) of King’s books in original first editions, including all of the Dark Towers. I guess this is as close to a hobby as I have going right now. [/pride]
