Dashboard doesn't open. MacBook Pro

OS X 10.9.2, MacBook Pro.

I seldom use Dashboard, but I didn’t want to get up to get a calculator and tried to use it. It doesn’t open. I don’t remember the last time I used it. Thursday or Friday I installed AlBlock (or AdBlock Plus). Is the app interfering? Or is there a different problem? How do I fix this?

Have you tried all the methods to open it?
F-12, F-3 (and then select the dashboard space), finger swipe?

I don’t know what that is. If I do cmd-F12, it turns up my volume. Same with ctrl-F12 and shift-F12. Opt-F12 opens the speaker control window.

Umm, - how about fn-F12?

ETA - finger swipe is explained in System Preferences -> Trackpad

Forgot about that one. I don’t know if I’ve ever touched it on a Mac.

In any case, I restarted the computer (finally got tired of the software update nags) and Dashboard is back.

I’m curious, is there a reason you’ve not upgraded? I believe the current version is 10.9.4.

Looks like the software update I just installed brought me to 10.9.4.

I didn’t do the update before because it requires a restart, and I was always using the computer at the time.

I see. Thank you!
