How could I find out the date of a total solar eclipse? I am almost 100% certain it was 1979. The path of totality covered the NW section of the US. In particular, I recall Portland, Oregon…not sure of other details. (It was a partial eclipse on the East Coast, and most of the US, I WAG.)

QED, this is exactly what I didn’t want. As far as I can tell, the table your link offers tells me nothing about the location of these eclipses. It is more for academic purposes.
I knew many of our West Coast SDopers would recall the event.
