But surely if she is not already with the guy, she is not going to end up passed out in his room, she is just going to pass out in the bar itself, with lots of people around to witness if any of them try to take advantage, or maybe she will pass out on her way home, which could be bad for her, but not much help to the would-be rapist drugging her drink.

As I understand it, the idea is that the drugger then “helps her out of the bar to her car”, while of course hauling her to his car instead.

So sort of like the alcoholic drinks that people put them in.

So, perhaps what this magic fingernail polish actually does, is tell you if your drink has any alcohol in it.

Date rape drugs are largely an urban myth, they do EXIST but the idea that women are being commonly drugged and raped by them is the myth.

The study revealed that women are often mistakenly linking blackouts and sickness with drink tampering, when over-indulgence in alcohol is more likely to be the case. And more than 75 per cent of them identified date-rape drugs as more likely than alcohol to lead to a sexual assault.

They also cited date-rape drugs as more significant a factor in an assault than walking at night in a high-crime area.

However, there is no evidence that rape victims are routinely drugged with substances such as rohypnol.

Dr Burgess added: There have hardly been any cases where it has been proved that sedatives such as rohypnol and GHB have been used in a rape incident. It is concerning that women are more concerned about something that is incredibly unlikely to happen to them.’

And while I am unsure about the benzos used, GHB almost always comes in the sodium form and is incredibly salty like GRAMS of salt per dose. 2-4 grams is used as a dose, would anyone fail to notice grams of salt in their drink except maybe a bloody mary?

I guess it’s not technically completely impossible. Enforcement people have quick test kits that are engineered to indicate the presence of this or that - and false positives are possible.

I just doubt that this is more than a concept - that is, I doubt the actual chemistry has been worked out in any detail at all.
