For the edification of anyone else here who’s into the superb Dave Godin’s Deep Soul Treasures series, there’s a fourth volume out. Man, it made my weekend when I saw it in HMV today, got it playing nice and loud right now. Some of the usual suspects reappear - the Knight Brothers, Eddie & Ernie, Arthur Conley, Doris Duke - plus the usual lavish annotation job. (I hate it when music companies cut corners and skimp on the annotation.) I love Kent Records.
Oh, and of course I’m constitutionally incapable of walking out of HMV with just one CD, so I’m now also the owner of *Definitive Impressions Part 2 * and Oh No Not My Baby: The Best of Maxine Brown. Both on Kent as well. Did I mention that I love Kent Records?
Happy listening!
