It’s unforunate that David Bowie’s newest album “Bowie at the Beeb” hadn’t yet been released when songbird wrote <<Was “Major Tom” the astronaut a real person?>> ( http://www.straightdope.com/mailbag/mmajorto.html ). Otherwise she would have heard David say “Space Oddity” was not released to coincide with the moon landing.
