David Davis resigns as Brexit secretary

Laughing? I think you mean despairing.

After rock-bottom despair comes an eery, maniacal laugh. Listen carefully and you’ll hear it all around you…

:frowning:

Edit: No, wait… I think the sound may have been the despair ringing in my ears. Not sure.

And the reason they’re still in power at all is because Labour have exactly the same problem.

On the bright side, it’ll mean he’s out of the country more often.

In the same way that “I can’t decide whether to have vanilla ice cream or chocolate ice cream so instead I’m going to gnaw my own arm off” is a compromise.

Just yesterday I was saying to someone “I agree with Theresa May that this country needs strong, stable leadership. Wouldn’t it be nice to have some?”

I said at the head of Brexit that if they wanted to have any form of internal cohesion, while going through the ordeal, they were better off to toss the traditional parties and form coalitions around pro- and anti-Brexit politicians. Keeping the parties as they are just reduces the leading party from ~50% of Parliament to ~25%.

Obviously, tradition makes that a difficult thing to arrange, but Brexit was a large enough issue that it would have been worth setting aside the old standards for a 2 year special arrangement.

Yes. A weasel. Not a man. This is what you meant to say, yes?

Sure, let’s fill the cabinet with alleged hominids with the exact intellectual capacity of stoats and polecats. What could go wrong?

No. Please don’t put words in my mouth.

The sad thing is that all these people really are intelligent. But they lack common sense - especially so in Boris’ case. They lack the touch of the real world. All they want is power.

This exchange on Twitter is amusing me today:

2 Tory MPs resign as Vice Chairmen of the Tory Party, Ben Bradley and Maria Caulfield. Both resignation letters mention Brexit and the Chequers deal, so this was obviously planned to embarrass May even though these are very minor positions.
