David Goldstein makes movies... or does he?

So I’m sure we’ve all seen that pigment-challenged fellow at the theatre by now talking about how he met his wife on the set of The Big Chill in 1983, but does David Goldstein really exist?

IMDB lists several, but none are set painters, and none worked on The Big Chill. Similarly, The Big Chill doesn’t show any record of a David Goldstein, and neither do the credits for Dick Tracy, supposedly another project of his…

Manny Perry, the new stunt guy, is real, but I can’t find any trace of David Goldstein. It’s as if he doesn’t exist!

Hundreds of names are listed in closing credits of feature films, but not every single name is listed in the IMDB (actually, only a very small crew percentage). Because he’s simply a set painter (and not a production designer or even paint crew supervisor), he’s probably not going to appear in the IMDB very often (if at all).

Or did you actually watch the closing credits of both films to scrutinize every name?
