Dawn simulators/alarm clocks with lights

I am talking about things like these…

anyone use one? do you like it? is it worth the bucks, that led one is pricy as hell.
I am interested in getting some feedback, I was looking at these since winter has arrived and my bedroom window is now covered in a nice thick blanket so I dont freeze to death in my sleep and the idea of waking up to fake dawn seems pretty nice.

Why not just hook up a regular lamp to a mechanical timer? That’s what I’ve done. The timer cost me $4.99 at Target, in the holiday decoration section. They also had a digital timer for $9.99 which allows you to set a different time for weekend vs. weekday.

the whole point is to not wake up to a sudden and irritating sound or light or whatever. the idea is the light comes on very slowly only reaching full power after 15-30 minutes or so.

My gf has one very similar to the Soleil Sunrise Alarm Clock, Dawn Simulator. It is a very nice way to be awakened, and I will probably invest in one when my current alarm clock bites the dust.

Moved to IMHO.
