Love it, glad we have it, all you haters are wrong.
Newfoundland is a little wonky, as its time zone is half an hour later than Atlantic Standard Time and ADT. But in 1988, it went to Double Daylight Saving Time, moving the clocks 2 hours instead of 1. That was a pain, and the reason given was the minister responsible wanted more daylight hours for baseball.
I don’t care if it’s standard time or DST, but the switch each way is hard on me.
When DST first started, dairy farmers were vehemently opposed.
The reason was places they did business with…milk hauler, feed store, veterinarian, equipment route man…they all abided by the DST. however, "Mother Nature " still was on standard time and thus hay couldn’t be baled until the dew was off.
Thus, you had to abide by DST with milking cows, standard time while baling hay, then DST if anything broke down and places were already closed while it still was daylight later in the day.
It causes an spike in heart attacks
Its literally a matter of life and death.

I don’t mind the switches. I just wish it would occur on Friday night/Saturday morning so I’d have the whole weekend to adjust.
Correlation is not causation.
You own cite points out that the spike in heart attacks on the Monday is compensated for by a decrease in heart attacks for the rest of that week,
With Standard Time it’s completely dark by 4:20pm in mid-December. A later sunrise instead would be more welcomed by many people.
I struggle with time changes. When I moved from CA to MD, I struggled for weeks with the 3 hour shift in time. My body insisted that it wasn’t that late. So, I was constantly incredibly short of sleep and I’m one of the lucky people who feels nausea when short of sleep, so that was great. Loved it!
I’m normally a person who knows exactly what time it is when I wake up, for example. I’ve got a very firm sense of time when I’m sleeping, for whatever reason, and I normally wake up naturally just before an alarm goes off. That doesn’t happen following time changes.
A one hour shift is less severe, obviously, but it’s bad. This week has been nasty.
It’s a pain in the ass. Umpteen clocks in the house that need changing, from the thermostat to the oven to wall clocks. Then there’s the cars. Gotta get the owner’s manual out in the case of our new car. How about we just split the difference and go halfway between ST and DT?
For those who say they want longer daylight hours in summer to do stuff (outdoor activities etc) - is it really preferable to do those activities in the evening rather than the morning? If anything, I’d rather go for a bike ride before work when it’s cooler.
Yes, it’s much easier to organize people in the evening, and you can go out for drinks after.
