You’ll get some shots. They are no longer given in the stomach. There are fewer shots needed. You’ll be fine.
Thanks, doc. Will the shots not only prevent the onset of disease from this encounter but also serve as a vaccine against future bites?
And a full-grown man in otherwise good health can get it, too.
Because I did.

Gave me Hell for most of a year, & did permanent damage to my lung.
Dont forget your wife was exposed too…
I hope you’re ok, Crotalus. I also applaud your ability to retain clean shorts after a facial assault by a large flying animal - I loves me the bats in theory, but still am maximally squicked out by the idea of one smacking me in the gob!
Dude, she was in bed with the sheets up over her face.
Which is really where I wanted to be, as well.
I did use the qualifief/weasel word “most”
Mine is said to.
I haven’t tried going out into the woods and wrestling raccoons, o’possums or bats, though. Just helping lost dogs.
Cool. I hadn’t planned to seek out confused, frothy-mouthed racoons, but a bit of vaccine might make any future bat visitations a little less frightening. I’ll be the fearless naked bat trapper of Chillicothe!
I forgot to mention in the OP that I was wearing nothing when I first met the bat. :o
Wow, even Lucy had a nightgown!
Just an update on the rabies prevention situation. I received six injections today, and will need four more over the next four weeks.
I remember the series, but not six the first time. was there a big one in your, er, glutemas maximus (sp)?
One in each glute, one in each thigh, one in each upper arm.
