Now, I admit, up until I started working at a news station, I never really watched the news. But I kinda always remember it being a big no-no to show dead bodies on the news. But recently, with the war in Israel excalating, we’ve been showing some rather unsettling images. Just now we had a shot of one man introducing us to his mother and brother, which were two bodies sprawled out on the floor. Earlier, in a story discussing how a few years back Israeli troops managed to stop a van carrying a bomb and were forced to kill the driver, there was a nice shot straight through the driver side window of the driver, head back, eyes open, throat shot out. Maybe it’s just American news, or maybe it’s just the fact I haven’t watched much of it in the past, but has this type of thing always happened? If you live outside the States, how often are dead bodies shown during your news broadcasts?
