Dead Like Me, Pushing Daises, and The Office: All shows I've started.

The biggest problem was that Mandy Patinkin didn’t return for the movie. I’ve also heard that he was a real asshole to work with.

Not to mention the lackluster replacement for Daisy, Daisy Adair.

Pushing Daisies had an excellent premise, and some really good writing. But, sadly, I think it had limited shelf-life, writers strike or no, simply because there’s a limit to what you can do in such situations to keep the show fresh, but stay true to the limits of the premise. I have the show on DVD, but I’ve only once ever gone back to watch it again, because getting all into a show that only lasted 22 episodes (less than a full season of shows!) is a bit disappointing.

And a plot that revolved around killing his replacement over and over again. Not funny, or insightful, or even clever and consistent with the characters’ previous behavior.

And also, no Post-Its. WTF were the producers even thinking? Let’s make a Dead Like Me movie with basically none of the things that made the show quirky and unique. These are the people who would make a Deadpool movie woth no cursing or sex.

Stranger

There were Post-Its! Just, at the end is all.

Completely weird that the movie focused on George’s sister so much. Felt like that plotline could have been dropped entirely, but the writers wanted George and Reggie to have closure so let’s tie it into an ‘A’ plot as well.

I’ve been trying to get into Parks & Rec since I’ve heard that so many people like it. I’m probably 4 eps in, and am not really digging it. There have been a few good lines and it does have the feel of the office.

I’ll jump to season 2 and see if it’s any better.

So, Parks and rec gets dramatically better after season 1, but the whole show is heavily character based and you will find season 2 much funnier if you finish season 1. The first 10 episodes or so are genuinely a slog. But it does get better. Much better.

Alright, I’ll continue on.

It better be worth it!

Thanks for the advice.

If you can find it, aother series SWMBO and I both enjoyed was Being Erica. We both mourned the loss of Pushing Daisies, Dead Like Me, and we have Wonderfalls on dvd.

Agreed. The movie was okay, but without Mandy Patinkin as Rube, it was just not as good as it could have been.

I’m also binge watching the office. I started a month or two ago.

I’m on season nine and having trouble finishing. Maybe part of the reason is just because I don’t want to see every episode, but the show honestly wasn’t the same after Michael left in season 7. The last two seasons are harder to get through. Without Michael the whole dynamic changes.

Normally when I binge watch something, I can only do 3-5 episodes a day max (half hour episodes, which are technically only 20 minutes excluding commercials and credits). More than that and I get sick of it.

IMO, season 9 gets back on track towards the end, and has one of the most satisfying series finales that I can recall. So if you’ve gone this far you might as well finish.

I’m now 1/2 through season 2 and it’s way better. Thanks for the advice to stick with it - it’s turning out to be a really great show.

The crazy thing is, it doesn’t really hit its stride till season 3. Enjoy.

Pushing Daisies was where the delightful Anna Friel first came to my attention. There was a series on Netflix recently called Marcella that I watched simply because she was headlining it.
