Deadliest Catch New Season

They packed a lot into the Alaska trip. Ice climbing, dog sledding, fishing, and the Time Bandit trips.

Hard to imagine Paul was in the merchant marines when he was young. I’ve wondered if his years of alcoholism messed him up. He gets sick so easily from any motion. I was surprised he even went out on the Time Bandit.

Have to rewatch this in a couple hours. First time in awhile I wanted to see it a second time.

*** Not a Deadliest Catch episode *** But, since the Chopper guys visited I figured it wouldn’t hurt to bring it up in this thread.

Ok, tonight was the real episode.

Glad to see Wild Bill catching big numbers this season. He still seems to carry bad luck with him everywhere. The guy with the injured back returned to work on the deck and then the old guy left with a bad foot. Didn’t matter I guess. They are pouring crab into the holds and making fistfuls of money. I think he said each crab was worth $50? No wonder they get excited when pots come out of the water full.

Sad ending for the Cornelia Marie and Josh. The captain they hired has an impressive bio. 25 years with his own boat before retiring a few years ago. I think he would have delivered crab if Josh would have trusted him more. If money for basics like gas were so critical then why did they even risk the blue crab season? They should have gone for the easier crab everyone else is fishing.

Don’t see much of a future for Jake. Right out of rehab and he’s already back into it. His own stash in the engine room. Glad they didn’t find anything stronger (pills) like he was popping last season. Jake was poison on the boat. His bitching and moaning led Josh and the others to lose trust in the captain.

Already seen a few greenhorn go down. Looks like a typical Deadliest Catch season. Even after all these seasons there’s something satisfying about watching these fishermen make a living. There’s still not that many people in the world that can work that long without sleep and not get killed doing that job.

I thought the whole Jake thing felt staged, staged, staged. A cop shows up at the dock, and just happens to let a cameraman ride with him while he looks for Jake? Jake doesn’t blow off his own cameraman while he’s trying to get out of town? The cameraman films the cop questioning and searching Jake? I’m not buying it.

Isn’t this the same Captain who had them out as the last boat in last years opie season, after Phil died? ISTR the final episode saying it took them 10 weeks to catch their quota. Feels like he couldn’t find his ass with both hands, much less crab.
