I’d love to hear what you think might-could-should happen in the third season.
What don’t you want to see happen?
What didn’t you like about either season?
What regular characters do you want to see more or less of?
I don’t want Alma to have a problem pregnancy, and I want her and Ellsworth to be more comfortable with each other.
I’m tired of Cy Tolliver, unless the knifing mellows him a bit.
I liked the first season better than the second, but only because of William’s story line. It brought Seth and Martha closer together, but letting him live could have done that too.
I’m most curious about E.B. – did his abscessed tooth affect his brain?
Me too. On the surface, they don’t have much in common, immaculate, well-spoken Joanie and stinky, foul-mouthed Jane. But they’ve both been through hell, they have that in common, and when Jane isn’t being defensive (or drunk on her ass), her intelligence and empathy is evident.
I’d like to see the development of the relationship between Ellsworth and Alma. Ellsworth is underrated IMO, and will make a great father, if he gets the chance. Alma needs to get over Bullock. He’s somebody else’s problem now.
I am dying to see the next machinations of Swearingen’s. How is he going to manipulate Yankton to do his bidding? Hearst’s interests will likely tread on Al’s toes, and this could create some interesting alliances.
I liked both seasons about equally. However, in the second season, the use of the F-word was WAY over the top, so I hope they cut back on that a little. We get it, they were rude and crude, but jeezy creezy, enough! In season two, it impinged on the lyricism of the dialogue, I thought.
I see Cy moving on (to Wu’s pigsty?) and the girls of the Bella Union going to Chez Ami. I think Cy’s story arc is done – he has no allies in the camp, ticking off Hearst by his blackmail attempt. Even if he recovers from his knifing, he’s smart enough to know he should move along. I would like to see less of him, in any case.
Merrick is starting to work on my nerves, and I hope they don’t expand his role. And I love Nutall, and would like to see more of him, but don’t see where that could happen.
What actually happened in Deadwood during this period? That should give us some idea as to what will happen next.
Wyatt Earp visited Deadwood in 1876. Various sites were saying “no Earp this season” but now they’re saying “Earp’s coming.” According to history, Bullock told Earp that Deadwood already had a sheriff, and Earp didn’t stay long.
There was some entertainment in Deadwood at this time too – plays and music and stuff, so we’ll be seeing some competition with Al’s piano.
I agree about the excessive language in the second season, especially with Trixie. It was very noticeable. I wonder if the writers thought her “fuckin’ this” and “fuckin’ that” was a way to show how stressed out she was, about leaving the Gem to spend so much time at the hardware store. ?? It didn’t work. I used to look forward to seeing Trixie, but she got on my nerves.
I agree about dumping the Alma-Seth story line. They can look at each other, but not longingly. And no touching!
I’m glad McRaney’s coming back – he’s a worthy adversary for Swearengen, I think.
Brian Cox looks a bit like the blind guy from Carnivale. He looks interesting.
I don’t see any future for Sol and Trixie. Does anyone? When Seth, Martha, and Sol were eating lunch at the hardware store, he seemed surprised that Martha invited Trixie to join them. Like he didn’t care, or didn’t even realize she might be uncomfortable.
