Dean Stockwell has died at age 85

He has always been around, in the foreground or background. First as a child star, then as a “hippie,” then as Al on Quantum Leap. Appeared in lots of other things, too. He made the final leap, and I hope he is at peace.

Nick Charles Jr. is gone. I know it wasn’t his first role, but it was the oldest one I really noticed him in. What an incredibly long career. 1945-2015

I recently was watching The Dunwich Horror which he starred in.

Loved him in Blue Velvet. Rest in peace.

He had a starring role in one of the weirdest movies I’ve ever seen. Human Highway, a collaboration between Neil Young and DEVO, who also had starring roles.

I’ll miss him. He was a true classic.

My ex-husband was so taken with Blue Velvet, he went as Dean’s character once for Halloween. It also meant I saw that movie about a dozen times.

RIP, Mr. Stockwell.

I remember when he was murdered on Columbo by Robert Culp. He played a young playboy who inherited a football team and was killed by Culp as the team’s general manager.

Oh, boy!

RIP Dean, I want to thank you for the many hours of entertainment.

The first time I saw him was in The Boy With Green Hair(1949), an anti-war movie.

He starred in my favorite movie, Gentleman’s Agreement, and came close to stealing the show from Gregory Peck. I was a fan of every phase of his career, from Anchors Aweigh to NCIS.

I flipped on the TV at random a few months back and caught a bit of “Compulsion” - took me a moment or two to recognize Stockwell as one of the killers.

He’ll always be the great villain Brother Cavill from Battlestar Galactica.

A great role and man, he absolutely owned it. Such a great actor.

I saw that when I was a really little kid, and it went over my head. I freaked me right out! :grimacing:

One suave fuck! - Frank Booth

Addendum: He and I had the same birthday (March 5th). Makes me extra sad.

I will play “Candy Colored Clown” in remembrance tonight.

And he was a patsy later for the killing of a cruise ship singer.

Check out this great moment from Battlestar Galactica. I should point out that this is late show and contains spoilers if you care about that at this point. I won’t spoiler hide it, but don’t click the video if you are planning to go into BSG totally unspoiled.

Eh?

I think he means on Columbo.

Yes, that’s what I meant, sorry.

Haha, I brought that up once on SDMB as a movie I was sure I had hallucinated. Of course, y’all set me straight (heh) and told me the green-haired kid was actually Dean Stockwell. He had a prolific career for sure, but still, he left us too soon.

Suave? Goddamn he was suave!

RIP
