Dear Tom Cruise, suck my sac

I understood that, I just wasn’t clear why it was disappointing the Nancy Cartwright, in particular, was a Scientologist. Generally, yes, I agree it is disappointing that anyone falls for this nonsense.

On a related note, a letter from the church of scientology was delivered to my work on Friday. Addressed to someone who doesn’t work here but with our address. Kind of bizarre. The letter talks about releasing the “super power” and asks for donations (with checkboxes from $100.00 to $10,000.00 listed, plus an Other box for those REALLY big donations apparently.) Spooky.

Could you check “other” and send them a penny?

I’m truly beginning to believe he is bipolar and off his meds.

Sorry. I’ve been drinking a lot of Jolt, and I’m feeling a little wired. In future I’ll try for a more metered response. I wouldn’t want to overload you or strain your capacity.

Maybe a little meditation will mellow me out.

Ohm…Ohm…

I think we can say with absolutely certainty that Tom Cruise is not on any psychoactive medications.

I have. The last film of his I saw was Top Gun way back in '87. I just don’t like the sort of films he stars in and find him incredibly irritating.

I dunno; I think he’s a decent actor. He was likable in Risky Business and adequate in Minority Report.

Why he’s one of the top 10 actors, so big that people will actually go to see a movie just because he’s in it, is a mystery to me.

But heck, I can’t figure out why the appearance of any actor would be sufficient to draw in the crowds: I’ve seen a fair number of good actors in sucky films.

If you need guidance and no film critic is handy, I’d say check out who’s directing.
Oh yeah, Scientology: what a manipulative crock.

Finding out that Beck was a Scientologist was the worst one for me. Beck? My god.

If TC was bipolar, why would he just start freaking out now? He’d have been unmedicated all these years, right? Unless his change in management led to a change in his medical care…

I believe I read somewhere that TC was dyslexic and had great difficulties in school as a result. Maybe he had some really bad experiences with school counselors, child psychologists, etc., as a kid, and Scientology has preyed on those. It would also explain how naive he is, considering he missed a lot of his education due to his disability.

I also think he’s gay. Scientology believes that homosexuality is an aberration that can be cured with their counseling program. Thus, he must be under a huge psychological strain trying to live out this charade and believing that he’s cured while he still is what he is. It would also explain the bizarre Katie Holmes thing-- he needs to have that beard or else the mask might slip off.

Overall, I’d feel bad for the guy, except that his mouthing off might actually hurt someone who believes him and stops taking needed meds.

As for seeing his films, IMO Legend was his best movie, so who am I to say?

Depends, was it a postage paid reply envelope? If so, put in a whole lot of pennies.

Otherwise, why even give 'em that much support?

Wow, as if I didn’t need another reason to dislike her.

You know, I think I’ve got a grasp on why $¢iento£og¥[sup]®[/sup] is so popular with people like Cruise: It claims that people who don’t like you, say mean things about you, etc., etc., aren’t merely cruel, but they’re evil. So to someone who’s been picked on a lot, or has an inferiority complex (Hey Tommy boy, how’s come you’re still doing the macho man roles, and haven’t tried to go for the warm and sensitive Tom Hanks-type roles, huh?), it’s not merely supportive, it tells them that they’re doing “divine” work.

Metacom, fair enough. We’ll agree to disagree.

The saddest thing about Co$ and celebrities is that they get a lot of perks. However, the people who provide these perks are all low-level cientologists who work 100 hour weeks for less than minimum wage and have to give up most of this income to the Co.

So yes, the celebrities pay the Co$ big bucks and get a great service, but the Co$ isn’t exactly spreading the wealth, even among its own members.
Re: Katie Holmes, there are rumours that there is a 5 year, multi-million dollar contract, which stipulates no sex. She could be a lot smarter than we’re giving her credit for.

On of LRH’s sons was gay, and committed suicide. LRH told is followers that the son (who he did not admit was gay) had been murdered by people who were against the Co$, thus feeding the persecution complex of the members even more.

So, she’s truthful when she says she’s saving sex for after she’s married- she didn’t say she’d be doing her husband.

It seems to me that at least some celebrity Scientologists are being blackmailed by information they reviled during there sessions with the e-meter.

No evidence, just a hunch. But in this day and age what secret could still be blackmailable?

A lot, especially if the actor depends on a “nice guy” image or the actor has personal hang-ups about certain things (e.g., homosexuality).

Well, isn’t $¢iento£og¥[sup]®[/sup] a rather homophobic religion?

Bipolar Disease can get worse as a person gets older. It also tends to get worse the longer sufferers go without treatment. Some other things that might worsen it are stress and an erratic sleep schedule.

So, we’re dealing with an aging movie star who has a hatred of psychoactive meds who just went through a very public divorce from wife/beard #2 and was doing a worldwide tour to promote his latest movie. I’m betting on the bipolar theory, myself.

Unfortunately, that means he and I have something in common. Damn.

You were married to Nicole Kidman!

I’m surprised to report that it actually is a postage paid envelope.

Here’s a blurb from the middle of the letter:

“We have made great advancements toward our goal over the past many years, and factually are coming down the home stretch toward completion. With your help now, we can get the job fully done.”

“Super Power donations are not advanced donations for Scientology religious services and are not refundable.”

Nice disclaimer! This is from someone named “Lauri Webster - Super Power Expansion Project In-Charge.” It doesn’t really get into the details of “completion” though.

Is that code for “we’re almost ready to take over the world” or " your money will go towards our CEO’s new weekend home in the Hamptons"?

Anyone?
