The father of a close friend just took his life by running the car in a closed garage. She is taking it pretty hard. It has hit me a lot harder than I would have guessed. I knew him, but I wouldn’t say well. Still, I’m feeling it pretty much today. I know it doesn’t make a bit of difference now - he is gone - but I just have to know: was it a hard death? Painful?
I dunno why this is important to me. It isn’t a morbid curiosity, I promise. For some reason I just need to find out - even if the knews is bad.
Not very painful at all, really. Carbon monoxide replaces the oxygen in blood, so cells can’t get the oxygen they need and slowly start to shut down. Usually, the ones in the bgrain are the first to go, so you would become unconcious before anything more serious happened. He might have felt a slight headache or nausea before falling asleep, but he certainly wasn’t gasping for breath, and didn’t expereince the pain of a heart attack.
Here are the symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning. Many people buy carbon monoxide detectors because they’re easy to overlook or mistake for something else.
It’s not a barrel of fun, but there are a lot of worse ways to go.
