Debarking cats in Massachusetts

If you want your cat debarked and you live in Massachusetts you better hurry!

From this link:

Huh?

I wonder what sorta medical need exists that would allow a cat to be debarked.

When I was a kid, I had a cat that could bark.

I suppose this bill is meant to prevent “de-meowing” of cats. Pretty pointless for many of our cats – Maggie was almost always silent, and a couple of the others only whisper anyway.
The folks a couple of streets over have what seems to be a “debarked” dog. Its “barks” sound more like sneezes, and I feel sorry for it.

How do you get a cat to go woof?

Pour gasoline on it and set it on fire. Woof!

An oldie, but a goody.

Instead of “debarking” dogs, wouldn’t it be kinder and easier to just plug their ears so they couldn’t hear the outside noises that were likely disturbing them so much?

How do you make a dog meow?

Stick it in the freezer for a week, then run it through a bandsaw. MEEEEOOOOOOW!

There’s a dog in my building that will bark at anything, and for hours on end. If it doesn’t stop, I’m going to kill it. Preferably with a bandsaw.

Would debarking constitute a medical necessity in this case?

Over the years, I’ve lived with a number of Siamese cats. Just about all of them are pretty vocal. They are loud, opinionated, and WILL make comments on everything that happens. I happen to think that this is part of the breed’s charm, but not everyone appreciates the running commentary.

A Siamese female in heat can generally be heard over about 10 city blocks, or so it seems.

However, I have read all the different definitions for “bark”. Once you do away with the “tough plant covering” ones, you are left with dog bark sounds.

Since George Washington became a national hero for debarking a cherry tree, so why not do it with animals?

That was one of my favourite old jokes. Thanks for the reminder.

I can support this legislation. This would be a pretty mean thing to do to a cat.

Why? Cats like having their backs scratched.

Does this mean all the out of business tattoo parlors just over the NH border will soon be converted to drive-thru debarking clinics?

Cats have bark in Massachusetts? Over here they have fur.

Why are cats leaving ships in Massachusetts and going ashore again? I missed something.
