Has there been ANY social movement in recent decades that didn’t see itself as downtrodden, or speaking on behalf of those who were downtrodden?

I wish there were more socialist movements around with depth.

In the US, a bunch of white teenagers sang an insanely racist song about black people. Someone videotaped them doing it, and they got internationally condemned. So one of the kids’ fathers wrote an open letter letting everyone know how terribly his child had been misunderstood.

Wow. That’s more like organized pressure to conform, using allegations of victimization to stifle outside criticism, but . . . wow.

Nonetheless, the Muslims I know are just regular guys, muddling their way through life like the rest of us.
