I think this is a bit harsh on Charisma and Brooke. I don’t think it’s fair to say their careers are about to take a slide. Charisma never was much of a celeb and I’d say she’s doing just as well now, if not better, then she was in her soap days. I see no reason to think that she’s on the slippery slope to obscurity. Ditto with Brooke, she’s never been that big. She was a pin-up with one show on E! that had a modest following, she still is a pin-up with one show on E! with a modest following. Frankly, Playboy might be the high point for her, and I’d guess that her circulation in the other mens mags has increased. The only common thread for these two girls was that their posing seems to have more to do with the post-pregnancy “I’ve still got it!” mindset. Thats a pretty big step up from teh “washed up” celeb cliche IMHO.

Charisma is doing better? AFAIK she’s not doing much, I think she was much more well known and recognizeable during her Buffy and Angel days. And I thought that Brooke was fired from her E! job? I watched it the other day and it was some different girl, or is she on a different show, not Wild On? I think with Brooke, though, it was just weird that she did it, because for the longest time he kept saying she would NEVER do nude modeling.

Indeed. My rather conservative girlfriend was ok with FHM/Maxim and was rather appalled that my roommate and I had a number of Playboys laying around. I told her to get off my case and take a look because she’d be surprised.

And she was- like I explained it to her, it’s like a less juvenile Maxim, except with fairly tastefully done naked women, and the articles/interviews really are pretty good.

Oh, they have articles and interviews in Playboy now? When did that start?

Christina, in her “Xtina” persona ( :rolleyes: please, girl…) , has even done a nude feature in Maxim, and there were those bottomless Vanity Fair shots for Britney. But of course we’re talking about looking forward to honest nudes, which in the case of Playboy celebs is still iffy but at least means uncovered nipples are to be expected.

We’re talking about a shoot in which Jessica and Ashlee show as much as the Dahm triplets show. Not that I’d expect that anytime soon – at the rate we’re going it’ll be the 20teens before you can have an expectation that Playboy “major” celeb pictorials will have real full frontal but by then HH will be dead and Christy and the boys will have sold out to AOL.

I simply pointed out that posing nude didn’t do a damn thing to revitalize her career- and that’s obviously what Farrah (like Tiffany, Nancy Sinatra and Debbie… er, Deborah” Gibson) was hoping for.

Alternatively, they might be looking to prolong a career–hard to tell whether they’d have continued in the same way without the appearance (Fawcett has had no slow-down in parts since her appearance), or, failing that, they’re just looking for some cash.

I’d say that the new ‘unreleased songs’ compilation she has out has something to do with this. It ain’t going platinum I’d bet but the pictorial might move another 10,000 or so.

And let’s admit it, folks, while I’ll be looking for the issue it’s not like Gibson needs to do it for money or exposure. She’s been playing on stage for a while. Grease, Les Mis, Cinderella, etc. Hell, she was Belle in Beauty and the Beast on Broadway!

In between stage productions it doesn’t look like she’s not keeping busy. Her web site lists a series of short engagements in things like Broadway on Ice and something called ‘Red Hot Broadway’.

It’s not like she’s hurting for work. She keeps busy enough that I’ll wager 99%+ of all actresses would kill for the career she’s having now much LESS the success in her youth.

So, while I think the whole ‘I’ve always wanted to do this’ is hype hype HYPE…it’s not like her career has tanked and she’s shilling for nickels. If she’s doing this it’s because she’s seeing some promotional advantage to it for her.

Hell, we’ve just spent a week here discussing Debbie Gibson. When the hell is the last time THAT happened?

What do you want to bet the pictorial will be a letdown?

Granted I don’t expect to see her on her back with her ankles behind her ears, but I don’t expect to see a whole lot beyond T & A in lingerie.

This won’t stop me from buying it, of course.
