Wow. So there’s even less incentive to entertaining the Debt Collectors than I thought there was! I always thought that the carrot for paying off uncollected debt was that they reported it as paid to the credit bureaus and it helped your credit.
I’m just glad it’s a pretty old debt that’s gonna vanish anyway, but I’m a guy who believes in financial responsibility so it’s a little frustrating that the original company made no attempt to call me or mail me about this bill (which I literally had no idea about).
