In 2001 I bought the Fuckus with a loan from American Investment Bank.
This would be my Waterloo. For the first 8 months, everything was jolly. I had auto bill-pay set up, and every month my payments would get made.
Then AIB stopped accepting automatic bill payments. No notice. Just stopped. I realized this once the nasty phone calls started coming in. I switched to manual online bill pay.
Then they stopped accepting that. Followed a few months later by no longer accepting ANY credit card payments.
I began paying by phone every month, using my checking acct. Having multiple jobs plus being a full time grad student, I wasn’t always on time, mainly because I would mess up dates. Meanwhile, to keep things spicy, AIB changed my due date twice. No notice. Just nasty phone calls.
Then some sort of bad mojo went down at AIB. ALL car loans were immediately handed off to SST, a collection agency.
For the past 8 months or so, I’ve been dealing with these bastards. Every month they tell me they are repoing my car. Every month I sigh, and then review the past 3-6 months of payments with them. Finally, they decide I am indeed all caught up and on time, and they apologize.
SST does not take any form of online bill pay or credit card payment either. They also do not mail me regular bills. Last month, they screwed up, and told me my check had bounced. This was news to me and my bank. They asked me to mail them CASH. I laughed, a lot. Then I asked to speak to a supervisor. They declined.
Today I called again with a reissued check (my bank redeposited the funds and told me to make the check again) PLUS money for this month. They told me AGAIN I owed them several more payments than I did. We went through the whole thing, once again. They finally apologized.
But I’ve had it. They are the Devil. They call me at 7 am, they call me at 11pm. They call me for money I do not owe. They use caller ID to call back any number I have called from to make my payments. They asked a friend of mine who answered the phone to send them cash. My friend laughed at them.
This is just too much. Does anyone know of a good debt consolidation company or something similiar I can use? I want the loan transferred to another company, one that is less shady and not run by Catbert. I have a lot of student loans, so I **don’t want ** to get another loan to pay off this one instantly.
