Cat commercial - funny
Come people… These are funny clips! I love cats but it is still funny… Why? Because these cars are eeeevvviiilll. Only eeeviiillll cars would kill cats. Get it?
I laughed, but it was too realistic for my taste (the video was TINY, so maybe if it was larger and looked CGI, I’d find it funnier). I do enjoy Tom & Jerry cartoons, but they’re obviously fake. Sure, Tom gets banged up, but 2 seconds later he’s fine and plotting again. He’s like Wile E. Coyote. I haven’t seen much of Monty Python so I’ll just have to pass that comparison up. I also found the “Juggling Kittens” bit in The Jerk funny, but it again was obviously fake. I like the series of commercials Euthanasiast has in mind, they’d be fun, if done right.
Standup Karmic, this is something I’m actually kind of curious about (might have to repost this in GQ). How much of normal consumer goods are produced with child labor? sweatshop-type labor? I hear different percentages and some people just like hinting that the only real way to avoid supporting those is to become totally self-sufficient. I’ve been wondering how far/close to the truth they are. As this is something I’m completely ignorant on, I’d like the advice of someone a bit more in the know.

I didn’t like the cat one, mainly because I have a cat that looks a LOT like that one. And it’s a drawn-out death, where you get to see the body slide off the car.
I looked through my movie collection, and the only movies that showed someone struggling against death are Chicago (where the woman is hanged, but you only see the feet), and House of 1,000 Corpses.
Yeah, a lot of people die in movies. A LOT. But most of them seem to be quick deaths. Not a lot of decapitation by smooshing.

And there are some greusome deaths. I have Resident Evil, and people get cut up by lazers. But even tho one person gets cut through the middle(right? I haven’t watched it in a few days), you don’t see them struggle or scream or anything. I don’t think stomach cut-in-halfness is that quick, eh?
The pigeon one’s better because it’s quick, not because it’s “not cute and furry.” And, for all we know, it gets up.
But I do GET the commercials. The car is BAD. And that’s why it killed the cat. Revenge and crap like that. It’s a car doing it, not a person, it’s not a REAL cat, yadda yadda.
I’ll agree with ass, not “arse”, but I think he was referring to the phrase having a “stick up your ass” meaning “uptight”.
Recall the Simpsons quote from Chalmers about Skinner, “the stick up that man’s butt has a stick up its butt.”
