I went for this, knowing in advance that the low, low price meant it wasn’t going to be wildly impressive. But I don’t need wildly impressive- I need
[ul]
[li]very affordable[/li][li]Bluetooth[/li][li]Stereo[/li][li]in-ear (COMFY, I have small, sensitive ears, has to allow for alternative pads)[/li][li]microphone[/li][li]and, ideally, that controls on the device can be used to trigger Siri[/li][/ul]
I have three other headsets that meet all of the above requirements, with 1.5 exceptions:
- They are not in-ear - I want in-ear because I do all my “watching” in my bed on my iPad, and on-ear headphones are shit for lying on my side, which I prefer to do 95% of the time. I can do it with comfortable in-ear buds and I do now with wired ones, but of course they are wired, which is a pain.
.5 is the microphones on the “on-ear” are bad. They pick up too much, too noisy, because of course they are all the way back on my ears, entirely the wrong direction from my mouth. The one I bought on Ebay was absolutely impossible for phone calls, I was completely marble-mouth.
The sound doesn’t have to be great, just reasonable, not aggressively bad (both in and out). I really liked the design of the Ebay set because of the around-the neck - that’s where the terrible microphone is located, which makes sense to me but in this case didn’t matter because it sucked. The earbuds were also pretty large, but I ultimately rejected it because the sound was dropping out for seconds here and there every few minutes and that’s just a hair too fucked up to be tolerable, even for $15.
That Ebay headset is precisely the same design as the $80 set I saw at Radio Shack, but I hope it sucks because they left something out…hate to think the people paying $80 are getting the same shit I got.
Anyway…any recommends?
