Deciphering Weird Symbols on Arab Coin...

True story. When my father died, about 5 years ago, my family came in and helped me sort out my house. It was a mess, because basically my father and I rarely threw away anything. Anyways, my cousin and I got to this old book of foreign coins. I really liked it, because the graphics in it were big, and spectacular, I think at least. But we finally decided on throwing it away. (I still have another book on foreign coins. But it is less complete–and the graphics are much too small, I think. I digress.)

Anyways, I remember this one foreign coin I used to look at in the book. It was an old coin, from an Arab or Muslim country. And I will try to describe it as best I can. It was a pentagram, in a circle, in a hexagram, in another circle. I used to look and muse over it often. But I could never for the life of me understand what it was, or what it symbolized.

I did eventually look up some of the symbols. But it doesn’t make anymore sense, what I found in any event. The pentagram could be from the occult. And the hexagram could be the seal of Solomon. King Solomon of Israel is said to have a six-pointed ring, with the “True Name of God” (whatever that may be) inscribed around it. Again, just more confusing.

Yes, I know that pointed figures can symbolize stars. But these had more lines than that, I think. They weren’t just stars, at least I think. They were many-lined figures. IOW, a pentagram and a hexagram, as I said.

So I now leave it in your capable hands, members of the board: What could it mean?

Morrocan probably. They use the seal of Solomon on their flag, which sounds like what you describe.

Google image search brings up this. Moroccan sounds right on the money. So to speak.
