What is the deepest underground building or structure that’s regularly accessible by members of the general public? And how deep is it? I know that part of the Moscow subway system is quite deep, partly for use as an emergency shelter, although I’m not sure how deep it is.
I don’t know anything about the Moscow system, but the deepest subway station in New York City is on the IRT at 191st Street. The tracks are roughly 180 feet below street level.
If tunnels count I’m sure that we can dig up (ha ha) a list of tunnels that have hundreds of feet of mountain on top of them.
…for example, the Seikan railway tunnel in Japan is almost 800 feet below sea-level.

I looked around and according to this (warning: in Russian), Moscow has the world’s deepest subway station (“Парк Победы” - Victory Park Station) that is 90 meters (~ 295 feet) deep.
I’m also curious about the Prague metro system and how deep it is. I’ve ridden some looong escalators on a couple of them although I doubt it comes close to Moscow’s depth.
