DEEP: Can changes in police procedures due to SCOTUS rulings be seen in the show COPS

Just had my Fourth Amendment class… I totally just realized that COPS has been on forever and that there have been a ton of Supreme Court cases that have happened since then which very directly effect police procedures esp. with regard to searches and seizures (which is the majority of COPS).

Have longtime viewers of COPS noticed general changes in police procedures, if they’ve been more/less abusive, etc?

I always got the impression that the officers on Cops are, since they know they are being filmed, are going out of their way to follow every procedure.

That said, I did like the episode that was filmed in Russia where the American cop was flabbergasted that the Russian cops allow the confidential informant to keep all the heroin they filmed him buying.
