Using (presumably) geometric arguments how were the series that give you the trigonmetric functions derived?
Well, once you’'ve got the formulae for sin(x+y) and cos(x+y), you can easily get the derivatives of sin and cos by taking a limit. From there the Taylor series are a snap.
