I was talking about this the other day with some friends when they described in detail what deja vu is. I then explained to them that it has never happenned to me before. They were stunned.
I can’t understand exactly what this phenomenen is…
Predicting something just moments before it happens? Is this part of deja vu?
Or is being in a situation and thinking ‘I swear I have done this before, but I can’t remember when’.
I really would like to experience deja vu sometime.
In all my experience with deja vu, I would have to explain it like this. It’s not like being able to predict what is about to happen–it is more like an intense, unsettling FAMILIARITY with what is occurring right now. So that when something does happen–i.e. someone says something, does something, etc.–you have a feeling of ‘yes, that’s what was supposed to happen.’
It’s probably different for most people, but that’s how it is for me. My husband–who never has it–always responds to mine with this statement, “Well, you’re in the right place.” Meaning, I guess, that if these events were supposed to happen, I’m where I need to be for them to occur. Whatever…
It’s just a weird, weird feeling. It’s cool, though. And believe me, when you do experience it, you’ll know. Everything will just seem a little too familiar. Any help?
I agree with stuuter’s description, plus add that when it happens to me, I cannot keep it to myself. It is just so cool that you have to tell somebody (anybody) that you just had it.
Ohhhhh yes. Absolutely. I don’t think I ever even think about not saying anything. It’s a given with me that I have to blab about it. Most people don’t care. But it’s too cool not to share. I even love it when someone around me has it and tells me. I always answer, “Did I do what I was supposed to?”
