In an attempt to keep Great Debates troll-free, I will be deleting troll threads. The identity-stealing sockpuppets have stayed mostly out of GD, and I wish to keep it that way. Troll posts will also be deleted. A possibly-offensive newbie post or thread will not be deleted, as long as it is within the rules of this forum, but if s/he is confirmed as a troll it goes bye-bye. Identity-stealing troll posts will be deleted as soon as possible.
Anyone who has a question about this policy is encouraged to post it here or email me and David B. Thanks.
Do you guys keep the deleted posts in “memory” for a certain period of time, on the off chance that a supposedly troll-post wasn’t quite so trollish at all? Like, if you deleted a post, and later found that the poster wasn’t being as much of an ass as he seemed at first (bear with me, it’s late), would it be possible to restore the post after a couple days?
Good to see you guys taking this seriously. We can tolerate anyone else but these little {insert bad word here} have no place in a forum of opinion if they obviously have no brain.
No wait guys.
It’s the real me!! REALLY!!! No, get away… GET AWAY!!!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH ooh nice white coat. Do all mods get those? AAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I should ask Tuba, I suppose, but I suspect she’s pulling her hair out.
When a luser bumps an old thread, and its post is subsequently deleted, the thread stays bumped, and people (not just newbies) don’t look at the dates, so old issues get rehashed. It’s not much of a problem here, but it’s a pain in the other fora. Is there any progress on this?
Yes, our jackbooted thugs storm into the forums and cruelly rip away innocent threads from their homes, whose only crime is being posted by snotnosed twits with too much time on their hands. Oh, the humanity!
