I don’t understand this Dell’s s-video output. It looks like an s-video but it isn’t quite the same configuration on any s-video cable I have. It is there to connect to a t.v. but the pin configuration is different from a typical s-video. The cable that came with the system has what looks like an s-video pin configuration that plugs in to the output port but the other end of the cable looks like an rca connection and it is brown.
I guess my question is what kind of cable do I plug in to that end? A yellow rca video cable and then connect to the input video on the t.v.? I tried that and couldn’t get it to work and the lame manual that I have doesn’t even mention it other then it being a feature.
If anyone has one of these systems and uses the tv-out feature any help would be appreciated.

I have a Dell Laptop. You are right that the S-Video output doesn’t look like your typical S-Video output. It has a couple of extra holes. However, if you take a typical S-Video cable and plug it in it will fit. Did you try a plain S-Video cable? Also, my current system (Inspiron 9100) and previous system (Inspiron 8200) had a three way splitter that plugged into the S-Video port. The splitter had a regular video out (the round yellow kind) and other options that I can’t remember.
Besides plugging in the cable there wasn’t much more I needed to do. Once I plugged in the cable the system automagically directed the output to the tv. I can toggle it by hitting the FN+CRT/LCD button if needed.
Ah I found my splitter. The part number is DP/N 070TVD. I double checked and you have the same output as I do on my laptop. Looks like an S-Video but has an additional three pins in the middle so it has a row of three pins, row of 4 pins, than rectangular piece. The port has a little tv with an arrow on your laptop.
I have plugged a typical S cable and ran it to the tv with no problems. For audio I use a cable that plugs in the headphone jack and has the white and red connectors on the other end.
Looking at my splitter it has three outputs. One is S-Video, the other is composite video (yellow connection), and one for digital audio.
