Delta Airlines in-flight amenities

I think that was USAir, but they’ve given it up when no other airline would get quite as far into the sewer as they had.

And speaking of seats on Delta airliners, do you know if they are installing the Cozy Suite seats on their planes? Patrick Smith, the “Ask the Pilot” columnist for Salon.com, said here that Delta was going to start using it next year. Supposedly, these seats are more comfortable for the passengers while also allowing more seats per plane.

Also, it depends on the particular plane for Delta. I’ve been on 737 flights with the little screens on the ceiling every few rows (pay for headphones, gotta watch what they play) , and on 737 flights with the snazzy touchscreen trivia game/satellite TV things on the headrests (your own headphones will work).

I MUUUUUCH prefer the snazzy touchscreen things. You can watch CNN, listen to their music on demand library, AND beat the rest of the plane at trivia.

Their pre-flight safety video features a woman who I want to strangle, especially with her condescending little finger waggle (“There is nooooooo smoking on Delta flights…”) who some people think is hot. She is not.

I don’t fly tons, but in the times I’ve flown delta they never had movies or TV to offer. I flew united and they had an in flight TV, but not on delta.

My delta flight was several hours from Minnesota to California on an Airbus.

I just flew Delta overseas, and both ways they gave out a free headset. I can’t wear the kind that go inside your ears, but fortunately the girl next to me had an Air Canada set that goes over them, which she let me keep. I didn’t get to use them on the flight back, though, because they were having trouble with the little seatback screens, and even rebooting them didn’t take care of it, so I had very limited use of the thing and couldn’t watch any shows at all.

Yes, this was a Delta flight between LA and Atlanta. Screen on the seatback had a menu to access entertainment and you had to pay to access films.

I was digging through a desk drawer the other night and ended up finding 3 pairs of headphones that came from a continental flight from way back when. They have the two prong connectors on them. Go figure.

I guess I’ll just have to see what kind of entertainment we’ll get. Sounds like some of the flights have the seat-back viewing and others have the overhead screens.

On an entirely unrelated question… How does one lift the armrest closest to the aisle? I was on a flight recently in which the person in front of me had the armrest up and I couldn’t find anything on my armrest that would allow me to lift mine.

There’s a little switch near the hinge point that locks the aisle-side armrest in the down position. Next time you’re sitting there, try feeling for it.

If you have iPod/iPhone earbuds, they’ll work just fine.

They work with all headphones, you just have to remember to bring them. Occasionally the two pronged thingies may work funky, but not all planes have those.
