Democrats who watch Fox News

As we discussed in the recent thread about Kentucky Democrats, there are lots of registered Democrats who only vote Republican. Then you have the households where one member is more conservative than the other.

Don’t confuse Democrats with liberals. There’s lots of overlap, to be sure, they aren’t the same. I would really be surprised if lots of actual liberals watch Fox News.

Our local Fox station is fine, it’s no different from the CBS/NBC/ABC local news. (Seattle area.)

It’s night and day between one, which is a normal and sane station that has real news, and the Fox News Channel, which is full of conspiracy theories and basically looks like a better-dressed version of the Discovery Channel, just with more yelling.

I wasn’t “hoping” for anything, but it’s gone pretty much the way I figured it would.

I don’t watch Fox News on TV.

I usually check out the main Fox website daily. It’s interesting* to see what’s being hyped, how it’s spun and the neverending ways in which editorials can be thinly disguised as news, something at which Fox trounces the competition.
Sometimes there’s even straight reporting of breaking news.

*in the sense that seeing a multi-vehicle wreck is “interesting”.

Any mention of the Pence-Trump dustup yet? They really don’t like letting their readers know about dissension in the Republican ranks.

You just now prompted me to check their website, which has a “2024 Watch: Trump-Pence chasm over Capitol attack widens amid fight for GOP future” story on display.

This
And this

Goddammit, they got me again.

Two ways of understanding the observation of the OP:

  1. It’s a good thing if people get their news and analysis from multiple sources. I personally read everything from Vox to the Telegraph so I am quite aware of the different perspectives on current events. It’s OK if those sources are all reputable (I’ll admit The Telegraph is on the shaky end of “reputable” but I bear that in mind).

  2. FOX news is not reputable and doesn’t do real analysis though. Perhaps it once did, but that ship sailed long ago. It’s a simple propaganda mouthpiece now, they don’t even report important news if they can’t fit it into their rhetoric.
I watch FOX occasionally, but it’s not to hear a perspective per se, it’s to hear what silly talking points are doing the rounds now so I am at least prepared. I don’t expect any of the talking points to make sense or have supporting evidence as it has been many years since the last time that happened IMO.

I’m sure there are otherwise intelligent, informed people who indulge in reading the National Enquirer(at least the headlines at the grocery store). I really miss The Weekly World News and Midnight Magazine. They were almost as kooky as Tucker Carlson. Almost.

In Japan, Fox is actually the number one comedy network.

They just change the titles of the shows and translate everything into Japanese.

Fox and Friends is known as “Happy Fun Time Dementia Hour With Balloon Chested Hussy And The Dink Brothers.”

The Sean Hannity Show is known as “Serial Killer Yelling At You Until Commercial Man Sells You Silver And Term Life Insurance.”

Judge Jeannie is known as “Undersea Dragon Spirit Whose Hate Warms Turtle Eggs With Laughter And Skunk Urine.”

Lou Dobbs is known as “Horse Toothed Man Who Wishes To Kill Us All.”

Laura Ingraham is known as “Space Banshee Whose Screams Kill Children.”

“The Five” is known as “The Program For Developmentally Disabled People.”
Eric Trump is known as “Fetal Alcohol Gary Busey.”
