Dems-would you vote for Feingold/Biden in 08?

Inspired by this GD thread debating Feingold’s move to have Bush censured:

For you Dems or other “Left” leaning dopers, would you right now be more inclined to support Hillary/Whomever or Feingold/Biden in the 2008 elections?

Liberal independant here.

Feingold is the best person for the job right now. I have no desire to see Hillary run.

Eh. I’m not a big fan of Biden, and I think Feingold would probably best serve the country as an independent senator rather than a president. If they ended up being the ticket, I’d vote for them, but in the same manner I voted for Kerry: not the best candidates the Democratic party could scare up, but better than any Republican. (Except Colin Powell. I like him.)

Frankly, I have no idea who I’d support right now. Mark Warner comes to mind as a possibility.

I consider myself a moderate but have voted for democrats for president for the past 20 years.

I don’t like Hillary as a good choice, I guess I’d default to Fiengold.

Frankly, I’d like to see McCain run - I’d vote for him.

I’d be more inclined to support Feingold/Biden than Hillary/whoever, but I’d need to know more about them and see them campaign before I could say I would definitely vote for them. I’m a registered Democrat, but I figure it’s about 50/50 that I’ll vote Democrat in '08.

I don’t like Biden and it would be a mistake for the Dems to have another all-Senate ticket. I thought it was a mistake when Gore picked a Senator in 2000 and while I understand why Kerry picked Edwards in 2004 I didn’t like it. I think it’s imperative for the Dems to find someone outside DC to be somewhere on the ticket. But I would love to see Feingold as President and I can’t think of anything other than armed coercion that could get me to vote for a Republican at this point so yeah, I’d vote for Feingold despite Biden.

IANAD but I’ve voted like one in the national elections since Reagan Term#1.

I like Feingold for standing up to the current administration, but I don’t know enough about his politics overall. Clinton is (pick one: too convervative, too inclined to adopt conservative positions if she thinks it will help strategically), and I’m not sure she’s charismatic enough to win.

I still like Richardson of NM.

Ultimately, though, unless the Republicans nominate a pro-choice non-Christian or a really impressive 3rd-party candidate comes along and polls well enough to stand a chance of winning, the Democrats have my vote for the foreseeable future without having to work real hard at it, so the answer to the question is not so much “yes” as “well, duh!”

(no insult intended)

I would not want either one to win the nomination on the grounds that it is virtually impossible for a Senator to get elected president. Senators cast votes, those can and will be used against you. Of the two, I’d rather have Feingold who now wears the mantle of “conscience of the Senate”. Biden shot his wad years ago, I didn’t see a compelling reason to support him then and still don’t.

Not a chance. Feingold irritates the hell out of me. Biden I’m nuetral.

I’d vote for Feingold in a hot second.

Fein-gold!
Fein-gold!
Fein-gold!
Fein-gold!

I hope the Dems don’t put Hillary up, because she can’t win. Too many people despise her and/or her husband. They need viable candidates, and she’s not it. I don’t think Feingold and Biden are either.

I’d like to see Edwards again on a ticket, but he’d have to run with someone who can bring home the bacon.

If McCain runs for the Republicans, I think he’ll be tough to beat. I think lots of people on both sides of the aisle would like to see Powell run, but I don’t think he will. Too bad.

Given the choices, I’d rather have Feingold/Biden running things.

I don’t know anything about Biden, but I grew up in Wisconsin and have followed Feingold for years. I’d love to see him as president, and I’d vote for him over Hilary any day.

I read Feingold’s Wikipedia bio a while after my first post, and based on that he sounds like a guy I’d be happy to vote for. Although I’d like to know more, and if we’re talking about committing to a candidate in a primary I’d need to know his platform. While I also share the concerns about nominating another Senator, McCain is the Republican favorite at this point, so that may be a wash.

As another former Wisconsin resident, I’m already a Feingold fan. I can’t stand Hillary Clinton and I don’t understand why so many people think she’s a shoe-in for the nomination. I’d vote for Feingold, but I can see that he might have trouble winning the election. I think he’s a great senator and I think he’d be a terrific Attorney General.

I’ve always kind of had this Feingold character on my radar but this censure thing is pure genius. I love 'im.

Hillary has absolutely no appeal to me. I can’t imagine a worse candidate for president – she’s got all the stiffness of Al Gore, all the waffly goodness of Kerry, less charisma than Dukakis, as muhc right-wing hate than her husband. Bleccccch. If the Democrats nominate her, I predict a large split. Or at least I hope, cause I know I’ll be taking my ball and going home.

No idea who Biden is. But I’d vote for Feingold in a red-hot minute (another former Wisconsinite here).

I’m most definitely a Liberal, but I don’t know about Hillary either. I’d vote for her, always depending on who she’s running against, but sometimes I think that I’m the only person who thinks that she’s unelectable. First off, she’s polarizing - I don’t know if I’ve met someone who’s just neutral on her. Second, she seems too conservative and hawkish for the Democrats I run around with. Third, she’s female. As a female myself, I’d love to see a woman president, but I just don’t think she’s it. I don’t think that it’s safe yet to underestimate the disdain that some Americans still hold for women in power. I can think of scads of people for whom statements like “She’s a bitch” and “women can’t even drive properly, much less be President of the United States” would be seen as strictly matter of course.

What, you mean the only one in this thread? We can’t have a Democrat- or Hillary-related thread without a couple of people saying this.

You’re not. See my post above. I don’t think she’s electable either.
