I worked at a liquor store for four years. If I refused someone service (despite their valid ID) there was a reason for it. If you need to know what the reason was ask the store manager.

I understand this. Good logic but I do have to emphasise the fact that she was from the ‘rougher’ parts of town (even though she was working in a posh place).

Firstly to correct Ethirlist, I’ve never used any fake ID. That’s pretty damn stupid especially when trying to argue with a cashier about its legitimacy. :smack:

Secondly, I’ve purchased alcohol since I was 18 in quite a number of places across town and near where I live. Definitely got a few guys suspicious and even asked me to say the date but so far…none refused me. The only one who did was because it was not in the hours of sale.

If it’s the latter, you fit the stereotype of a guy who gave the same exact responses as yours. So old-fashioned. We need less people like that in this world.

I’m just frustrated because I remember an Irish teacher in my college who went to live in China after learning Chinese from 2006 - present. He was the typical ‘old fashioned’ guy. Not very ‘masculine’ but complained when someone was ‘selfish’ ‘bratty’ ‘mannerless’ ‘cowardly’. (according to previous students)

The reason I poked at the poster was because older Chinese people tend to be more ‘conservative’ than Western people especially when they share some opinons on topics.

So the person who speculated that they weren’t sold alcohol because of racism made a comment that boils down to an interest in there being less “older Chinese people” in the world?
