I am hoping someone here can help with a dental issue I’m having. Although if you can help I’m sorry you’ve gone through this difficulty. I am in the middle of 2 root canals (as the result of a fall I had) and my teeth continue to ache but no infection can be found on the x-rays. I’ve had the nerves removed from the teeth so they should not hurt. I’ve had 2 rounds of antibiotics as well as a ‘vitapak’ (a different antibiotic) inserted in my teeth where the nerve used to be so antibiotics could be working ‘from the inside out’ as well as taking some antibiotics by mouth.
Surely I’m not the only pals to have been lucky enough to fall on my teeth . Has anyone out there experienced this difficulty with pain continuing during a root canal? We can’t finish the root canals until the pain problem is resolved. Anyone know about a great dentist?
thanks!
Did you go to an endodontist? All they do is root canals so they are experts at them. If you did maybe get a 2nd opinion from another one.
If you live near a dental school you can go to the faculty dentists who are normally very good.
Dentist here. I’ll second Bijou Drains, have you seen an endodontist v. your general dentist? That being said generally teeth needing root canals due to trauma aren’t usually infected requiring antibiotics. My assumption is another tooth or something else is involved such as some of the alveolar bone broken. Often after a root canal teeth will be sore for a while. Even if all the nerve is out of the tooth the cut end of the nerve where it enters the tooth can be sensitive. I assume it has been over two weeks since you’ve had two rounds of antibiotics. Usually doesn’t take two weeks for the pain to subside. I doubt it is an infection. I’d look for another source of pain.
Medical/dental advice is best suited to IMHO.
