Deodorant meltdown

This is a question so strange, that I don’t know any other place I can post it.

A few weeks ago, I bought a multi-pack of a deodorant/anti-perspirant gel (Gillette, if that matters). I used up one stick, and went to get another. In all the other units in the pack, the gel has somehow turned into a mixture of liquid and gelatinous glop. It’s no longer possible to extrude it through the holes at the top of the stick by turning the little knob at the bottom.

I have not dunked these in water or exposed them to any extreme temperatures that I am aware of. Any idea what might have happened?

I’ve had that happen with the same product if I left the cap off. It just sort of dried out.

Not sure how it happened, but this used to happen to the sticks I’d leave in my car. I’d fix it by turning the knob down almost all the way, making sure the cap is on, and getting it warm so it “sets” in the lid. Then I can turn the knob down the rest of the way and pretend nothing ever happened.

I dunno. Chemistry is weird though. One time I had this bottle of shampoo that was almost empty, so I got a new bottle of a different brand and poured the old stuff into the new bottle. The shampoo transformed from a thick gel to a water consistency.
