Deodorizing stinking Tupperware

Yes, and you don’t have to endure a boring party and play silly games to get it. You can just buy what you want.

Next time I’m in the US I’ll look out for some then.

Aw, c’mon. What’s a little mustard gas between friends and neighbors? It’s the 21st century; certainly we can overlook a little chemical warfare in the destinking of Tupperware. It’s the fault of the French anyway…them and their damn, delectable stinky cheeses. So before you mix, make a trip across the channel.

Sorry- jimm’s right- it’s almost impossible to buy pure ammonia in the UK. It certainly isn’t in most cleaning aisles, even in large supermarkets.

I don’t think they trust us not to gas ourselves.

It really gets rid of the stains? Cool, man.

Hmmm. According to thisBritish website, it’s in your grocery store. Scroll down to step 2.

I don’t mean to be nitpicky, and I don’t know who Ben Fullbright is, but I suspect that was copied-and-pasted from a US site, for the following reasons:

Except on the SDMB, Brits almost never say “grocery store”. We say “supermarket”, and furthermore, when we are referring to a retail establishment, we say “shop” instead of store.

I’ve never heard of “Mr Clean” or “Spic-n-Span”.

Our ovens don’t always go up to 275 degrees, because we use Celsius. Mine only goes to 250.

But I will admit that he did spell “colour” correctly…

We don’t need no steenking Tupperware!

On Tesco.com, the largest supermarket in the UK, my search for “ammonia” produced the following results:

That’s too bad, that you can’t get it there. It’s such a basic cleaning product here that it kind of baffles me that it isn’t available everywhere. Basic like bleach and starch and rubbing alcohol and dish soap. I make my own window cleaner with it, and it is essential for stripping wax on floors, and so much more. Of course, we don’t have those Milton baby bottle sterilizing tablets, we just boil them. Ah well. It would have solved your problem so quickly…
