Describe a movie you saw and liked as a kid but can't remember its title

This one, I have to check out. It might be it!

Maybe The Terrornauts (1967). It does feature a talkative custodian, but she’s actually one of the ‘guests’ on the station, not the station’s custodian.

For a long time it was “The Naked Jungle”, a movie I remembered primarily for the scenes of army ants devouring everything and everyone in their path. Someone came up with the title here on the Dope a few years ago.

I seem to recall film my parents took us to see. This would be 1971 or 1972. Movie called something like ‘The Dream Machine’ maybe, though no search has turned up a such a movie as I remember it made in that time frame.

Basically told from the perspective of school age kids, as they were able to turn their fantasies into reality; which usually involved seeing authority figures like teachers or parents get their comeuppance, shown in a humorous way and to the tune of some catchy guitar riff.

When did it come out?- I have no idea.
Who was in it?- I don’t know.
What plot if any do you remember?- I don’t know.
What was special to you about it?- It was very creepy. There was a scene where a women was hiding in her room and put up a mattress to block the doorway and a black spike thingy came out and shock a spike at her and she passed out. Then the last thing I can remember is something carrying her through the woods. Then, this alien-like creature took her?

Any other clues you can think of?
Just attack black spikes. Very realistic looking, but the movie was OLD . Not black and white,

Possibly The Beast Within (1982).

Hey, Katieboo, are you the same Katie that used to ask questions on the IMDB ‘I Need to Know’ boards 15-20 years ago?

Katieboo, you said, “When did it come out?- I have no idea.”

Surely you have some idea. You presumably know the approximate age you were when you saw it, so you have some idea of the last possible year it could have come out. Also, let me mention that it’s always useful to know when your childhood was. Sometimes posters forget that the ages of SDMB regulars varies over a period of perhaps sixty years, so saying that something happened when you were a kid is less useful than you think.

When did it come out?- This was on a Saturday morning in the late 1960’s or early 70’s.
Who was in it?- There were no faces shown only live actors. It was a short film, of a minute or so.

What plot if any do you remember?- There is a poem being read to this short film. An ornate flying saucer flies in and lands. The camera zooms out to show it sitting on a fine restaurant table with a table cloth, wine glasses, plates, silverware and a woman’s clutch purse. You only see the woman’s torso and arm above the table. She picks up her purse opens it, picks up the flying saucer as if it is a powder compact and places it in her purse. She stands up and walks away.
What was special to you about it?- It seemed particularly well thought out and well directed. The poem being narrated was funny but I can’t remember a word of it. Due to its qualities I would have thought I would see it again, but I never did.

Any other clues you can think of? - The broadcaster was out of Nashville TN. It was at the end of a H.R. Pufnstuff show. It was a live set, not an animated cartoon or a commercial. I don’t know if it was in color or not ( I had b/w tv). I don’t know if this was part of that show or filler the network added. I’ve watched several H R Puffnstuff shows (which I don’t enjoy) and have not found it. Anyone know the title or any other info of this little jewel?
