I’m trying to figure out how to make a solar lamp from scratch. My idea is to make something that would produce 3 or 4 watts of white light for 6 - 8 hours and would last in excess of 5 years before requiring maintenance.
I’m not sure what kind of batteries I’d need for something like this. I want the lamp outdoors (obviously!) so it would be exposed to some pretty severe temperature swings. Winter might be well below zero while it could get to 100 in the summer. Also there is the problems of the number and depth of discharge cycles a given battery can do before it has to be replaced. Any ideas?
Thanks
