Dessert for the homeless

I totally agree with the cookies and Rice Krispy treats; provide a box of ziplock baggies, too, so they’re portable!

This is a residential shelter, so the dessert doesn’t have to be portable. I’d suggest two desserts, one of them chocolate. Brownies would be good. The other maybe fruit based, like cobbler. Vanilla ice cream for the side on both.

StG

Ice cream and toppings for one, Monkey Bread ( use the pioneer woman recipe, look it up) for a second choice.

Whipped cream, always a favorite for kids, can be used to top both.

Easy as anything to scale up or down…

Here’s what I know from participating in lots of bake sales.

There are never any Rice Krispy Treats, brownies, or chocolate chip cookies left over at the end of a bake sale. Those are all gone. There’s often plenty of the other stuff.

So draw your own conclusions.

I’d give them a good fruit salad, plus some petit fours or chocolate or nuts. Something healthy and something rich.

Hey Brynda, how did the dinner go?

Thanks for asking! I made a yellow sheet cake with chocolate frosting and a yummy blackberry cobbler. Both went over well.

Mmm, cobbler! I’m glad to hear it went well. Thank you again for doing a good deed.
