Details of new Bond film announced

The Beretta? Nice and light…in a lady’s handbag.

I think it’s most too light.

Do NOT take it into a bar, ok?

That depends on how cold the water is…

Is the beach in the Caribbean?

I read something about Quantum of Solace somewhere today, possibly linked off of Oh No They Didn’t. Apparently, Bond goes on a mission to figure out what happened to Vesper and finds out she was blackmailed. He teams up with another agent (I think) with her own agenda. The other agent is played by Olga Kurylenko, but there’s a different Bond girl with whom Bond hooks up, played by Gemma Arterton.

The old PPK (the films switched to a P99 in The World is Not Enough) and the Beretta .25 were Bond’s concealed-carry weapons, of the sort Fleming himself would have used in WW2, back when a Browning 9mm HP was sincerely meant to be “High Power”. Bond would upgrade as needed Europe had a much lower standard of “stopping power” than the USA, the 7.65mm was as common there as a handgun load as the .38 Special was in the USA.
From the pictures at the press conference, it seems that the choice of “Quantum of Solace” was also influenced by the ability to do the title in such a way as to reuse the O-O-7 design from CasinO ROyale
