On a suburban Detroit highway, a bunch of truck drivers helped keep a guy from jumping to his death. at the request of police, the truckers parked their vehicles in a tight formation under the bridge, the idea being to reduce the distance he would fall if he jumped. He could still have aimed for a gap if he was really determined, but suicide is generally an impulsive thing - and the gesture of 13 random strangers willing to give a few hours of their time likely sent a pretty strong message of support that helped change his mind.
I liked this story. The picture in the paper was pretty inspiring too.
Damn. That’s a great pic. Kudos to those truckers, esp. since they’re often on tight delivery schedules. What a gesture.
