Devil's Night

Just wanted to mention that it is Devil’s Night. We used to observe it (so to speak) when I was a kid in North Jersey, but from there I went to other cities where it was nearly unheard of. Forgot about it until 1994, when David Patrick Kelly raised his shot glass in an early scene of The Crow and leered, “Here’s to Devil’s Night…my new favorite holiday…”

FIRE IT UP! But not literally, please, or at least not outside of a trash barrel.

Nothing burned in Detroit last night!

It wasn’t too long ago they would have over 200 fires.
They call it Devil’s Night here also, but they’ve come up with this Angel’s Night campaign to keep people from torching the city.

Do they still talk about The Jersey Devil in the garden state?

They were when I left, but that was in 1984.

People who are unfamiliar with Jersey think it’s wall to wall pavement, so when you tell them about The Jersey Devil, they think it’s a wank. Of all the places I’ve been, it’s the strongest legend I’ve come across. Growing up, everyone had stories, there were books on it, sightings still occured, and it definitely ruled the campfires. I left a few years before you.

In case anyone’s confused, we are not talking about the hockey team.

Ah, the Pine Barrens, where many Carnivorous Plants live!
