I thought the same thing (more or less) about John Lithgow.
I still think the best actress on the show is still Jennifer Carpenter. She boggles me sometimes with how quickly she can go from being a hard-ass to vulnerable.
In any event, I don’t think Lumen will die. They’ve killed off way too many of the Morgan siblings’ lovers: Rita, that psycho British lady Lila, the FBI dude Lundy, the Ice Truck killer…
My theory is that she’ll return to Iowa to be with her fiance. She doesn’t have the mettle to continue killing after she’s exacted her personal vendetta against the CoRs (Circle of Rapists – I don’t know what else to call them).
I just don’t see them killing Lumen. Not only is there the list you mentioned, but to have Dexter’s pretty blonde wife die in the season finale, and follow it with the death of his pretty blonde protege in the next season finale is repetitive, even for Dexter. Maybe it’ll be like Fight Club and she’ll move back home to start a vigilante franchise in the midwest.
My hope is that Lumen and Dexter part ways on a positive note, but I do foresee some nasty deaths to occur before that happens…
And Johnny Lee Miller as Jordan Chase. Guy’s creepy as fuck.
A is closest to my own prediction for Lumen. There have been enough hints from Deb that she’d be OK with vigilante killiungs in the “barrel girls” case–I’m thinking of that conversation she had at Dexter’s apartment two episodes ago when she watched Harrison for the evening. We were supposed to think this was for Dexter’s benefit, but I believe it’s setting up Deb giving Lumen a pass on the killings.
It still strikes me as outrageous–given his close, public connection with Lumen–that Deb wouldn’t suspect Dexter in the killings. But given that Lumen broke two of my “rules” for her to survive the season (killing a defenseless victim and taking her relationship with Dexter to a sexual level), she probably will be written off at the end of this season.
It would be outrageous if Deb was at all aware that Lumen was the 13th victim. But if she knew that she’d already have confronted Lumen in some way, either to arrest her or to tell her to leave town.
As far as Deb knows, though, Lumen is just some chick. Why would that make her suspect Dexter?
Why? Dexter has so far carefully hidden all evidence that points to Lumen as the 13th victim.
Still don’t think we have the whole picture between Chase and mystery blood girl. A sister maybe? He definitely didn’t want to be touched. Do you think he doesn’t have sex at all with anyone? His whole thrill is in the control and manipulation of others?
So, there’s always a cliffhanger at the end of the season. Lumen/Dexter getting caught by Deb/Quinn/Liddy or some variation thereof? They do keep you guessing. Maybe as the seasons progress they will add more and more participants to their “cleansing” group until all of Metro Homicide is divided between us and them. Sorry. Got a little carried away.
Do we know if there will be a sixth season yet?
One of the tv site fans claims that Hall has signed through Season 6. Who knows?
Hall signed a 3 year deal and I think that was before season 4 so he should be around for 1 more year. I think the other main actors signed for season 6 too.
Is there? The only cliffhanger ending I remember is from last year when Rita was killed. I don’t remember any cliffhangers for seasons 1-3.
I don’t really think there were other cliffhangers. At the end of season 1, Doakes starts following Dexter around. Rita finds Paul’s shoe and realizes he may have been telling the truth about his relapse. Season 2 ends with Dexter killing Lila in Paris. Season 3 ends with Dexter’s wedding. Season 4…well, everyone knows how that one ended.
No, they don’t normally do cliffhangers. Think of it this way: This season was the first one that started by resolving the previous one. Every other season started fresh.
My prediction is that Liddy will reveal to Quinn & Deb what’s going on with Dexter and Lumen. Deb will then figure out that Lumen is #13 and has been killing them all with Dexter’s help.
However, I think that Deb will probably assume Dexter is being used by Lumen as part of her plan for revenge, that Lumen knew about his fragile emotional state because of Rita’s death (which would have been in the news), and that he hasn’t actually done any killing, only provided guidance and advice from his forensics background. Deb and Quinn will be able to justify why he gave the assistance, based on what she’s said about wanting to kill them herself. Oh and Lumen has disc 13, which she can say she showed to Dexter in order to convince him to help her.
In the end, Lumen will go down for the murders and Deb & Quinn will keep quiet about Dexter’s involvement. Lumen will probably get a lenient sentence and/or psychiatric help because of what happened to her. Liddy will either shut up also, or just be ignored because of his prior issues with the law. It’d be pretty easy for any lawyer to dismiss all of his evidence and/or testimony.
Season 6 has been officially confirmed.
