Omni stands quietly enjoying the afternoon
–A giant blunt object comes from out of view–
Omni is knocked senselessly into a crumpled heap several yards away
Hmmm, I watched last nights game, and I must say I was caught off guard.
Dick Bennett has extremely high standards, to the point of being a perfectionist. I think he got to a point where he felt he couldn’t live up to the standards he set for himself so it was time to leave. It is a sad day for Wisconsin basketball. No matter how you feel about the style of play his teams used, there is no doubt that the teams he coached were the most successful in school history.
The thing I will remember about Dick Bennett is his honesty. I have never seen anyone in a position like his with his honesty, which could get to being brutally honest. He told things exactly as he saw them and didn’t mince words. Although it sometimes made me feel sorry for his players, it was also refreshing to see these days. What you saw with him was exactly what you got; you knew he wasn’t playing any “games” and you knew exactly how he felt.
