Don’t get me wrong, I’d hate the idea of being in a country run by a power hungry micro-managing dictator 9.9 times outta 10, but during a viral outbreak, there’s no country I’d rather live in than North Korea. Sure, no one wants to believe that NK is having such great success in staving off the virus, but it does make logical sense. Because a virus is not human, it doesn’t negotiate, feel empathy, or feel lonely and go away if you ignore it too long… it also doesn’t stop at state/provincial borders.
I live in Kimberly in Canada, just a small town. Here people are acting like the virus doesn’t even exist… All it would take is for one viral infected individual to come through town and take a brisk walk down main street and through a couple stores, and half the town would be infected in days…
But ya, the virus isn’t human, so putting emotions and government reputation ahead of logic and action; these are the moves that will be responsible for millions dying from the pandemic instead of hundreds or thousands. If people like Kim flung dung were in charge of all countries on the planet, this virus would be gone by now (if not months ago).
Course our lives would be hell after that, so I’m not suggesting that we all promote dictatorships, but there should have definitely been swifter and harsher action on part of the governments, with less care about hurting people’s feelings, and more care about saving lives.
Also, if it was up to me, people out protesting the lockdowns, woulda been shot in the street, because that level of stupidity should not be tolerated… “We don’t wanna chill around the house for a few months, let’s go make a huge gathering and spread the virus around instead”… How the fuck do these people remember to breathe…
