did ANYBODY Ever Find Nungesser and Coli? (Pre-Lindbergh Transatlantic Fliers)

A few years before Lindbergh’s trans-Atlantic flight, two frnchmen (Nunguesser and Coli) tries to fly the Atlantic. Years ago, I heard that somebody had determined that the two fliers had ctashed in Maine…and a search was made for the plane-this wasin the 1970’s I belive. Was anything ever found? Did they make it across the Atlantic?

In addition to extensive archival research, eight TIGHAR search expeditions (to date) have employed helicopters and sophisticated remote-sensing technology to find enough evidence to indicate that an airplane did crash somewhere within a specific geographical area. The time frame makes it highly probable that the flight was one of several vanished transatlantic attempts. The strongest candidate is l’Oiseau Blanc. The exact location of the crash, and therefore the conclusive artifact (the engine) remain to be found. The search continues.

Wow! That sounds about as definite as a US presidential news conference.
