Did anyone watch State V last night?

How was it? I missed it.

I watched it and really enjoyed it. They followed a case surrounding the death of a man shot in the head. The man arrested was a co-worker/friend, who had been fired earlier in the day.

They gave information about each of the attorneys, the prosecutor was trying his last case before becoming a judge and the defending attorney had only tried a few cases previously.

The defendant claimed that he went back to the office (which was also a house that both men lived in) with another friend, to get his belongings. Upon arriving, the man that was killed offered the man escorting the defendant a joint…then all of a sudden the deceased pulls a gun, there is a struggle…the defendent pulls a gun and shoots him twice at point blank range. The escorting friend (named Joey) supposedly took the second gun and ran…the police were never able to prove that Joey was there, or even existed for that matter.

The show went behind the scenes and showed the Jury discussing the case. In addition they showed the attorneys waiting to hear the verdict. The case ended up a hung jury, due to some of the pictures of the crime scene (showing the deceased sprawled at his desk with the above mentioned joint sitting on his thigh.

The defending attorney told his client that he should take a plea that was offered (10 years instead of 22), because 90% of the time the State wins a case in a retrial.

At the end they show a picture of each involved and sums up what happened:

Prosecutor: Now a judge
Defender: Quit law to be a life guard, then went back to law
Defendant: Didn’t take his attorney’s advice…went to retrial and was sentenced for 22 years.

I hope this wasn’t too much info for ya!

Moral of the story: Even if you didn’t do it, listen to your freakin’ lawyer.

Couldn’t believe that one.

Isn’t that the truth! If he knew better than an attorney, he should have just seen if the guy who was responsible for the subway shootings several years ago (who defended himself) was available. Oh yeah, he is in prison. Idiot.
